Anukta Ghoshal
This story is about a dreamer and doer who confronted courageously to change the mind set of the surroundings. Yes, this story is about me. In the year of 2012, I was the first runner up of a renowned beauty contest held in Kolkata – that was a new beginning of another phase. After that, I started working in various modelling assignments - a step further towards the summit of success .But, due to serious illness I had to abandon my passion in the year of 2013. I was then suffering from a serious trouble in nervous system and became completely bedridden for the next one and a half year. Even, l couldn't give my college final exam and surprisingly instead of uplifting me, my relatives and neighbours started cursing me. I was being told "unlucky", "unfortunate", "handicapped" and what not! I was addressed as a burden of my parents. I could not walk properly, could not talk properly and everything around me started appearing gloomy. Soon, I realised that blessed are those who have a simple healthy life. I was even told that I would not be able to get back to the mainstream of life, but I didn't give up. Somehow, l gathered my scattered confidence to retrieve my lifestyle, and finally in the year of 2015 I came back to my normal life . When I was struggling so bad, l had to go through the process of counselling and just because of that people started saying me ‘mad'. I was being isolated from all the social occassions. These hostility couldn't stop me. I resumed my studies and completed my graduation ,post graduation and MBA with flying colours. The light of opportunities peeped through the darkness and l was selected to work with one of the big four audit firms across the globe. Side by side, I hosted various programmes in the television channels and again participated in various beauty contests. I won eight renowned beauty contests and was selected as a top finalist of another four renowned beauty contests. I also worked as a model of branded calendar .In the year of 2019 I was selected as the Radio Presenter at ‘All India Radio.’ Now, this was the time to work for the society and l started working with various orphanages and old age homes. So, according to my opinion, self-confidence is the keynote to the success. If we have confidence, we can strive against every odd and make things favourable. Remember, nothing comes easily! Now I am taking my dream come to a greater extent where I desperately want to establish an organisation for those who have lost their self confidences and striving hard for a getaway to resume, recapture. Counselling of such people would be done for free there so that we can all build a better future and this world can be better place for the upcoming generations.
